SUMMARY:Seminar Series: Arunachalam Lakshminarayanan
DESCRIPTION:Join us in welcoming Arunachalam Lakshminarayanan\, who does marketing and business development for Rolls Royce. He will discuss data centers. Alums and friends of the program are always welcome. \nTitle and Abstract\nData Center 101 – An Ecosystem in itself \nA data center is far more than a building filled with servers. Instead\, it is a complex\, interconnected ecosystem. Technology\, power\, cooling\, connectivity\, security\, people and processes must work together effectively. \nEvery component plays an important role in keeping the digital services you depend on available and performing well. These components include electrical systems\, cooling infrastructure\, networks\, computing\, storage and operational teams. Like a natural ecosystem\, a data center depends on balance\, resilience\, efficiency and continuous improvement. Therefore\, a change in one area can affect operations throughout the entire environment. \nAs demand for AI\, cloud computing and digital services grows\, data centers must continue to evolve. They must provide capacity and reliability while improving energy efficiency\, sustainability\, security and operational intelligence. Ultimately\, a data center’s strength does not come from one technology. Instead\, it comes from how people\, processes and technologies work together as one ecosystem. \nDuring this highly interactive session\, you will collaborate with others\, exchange ideas and explore new opportunities. Most importantly\, you will discover how you can contribute to the data center ecosystem as part of one team. \nBiography\nArunachalam Lakshminarayanan is Strategy Business Development for Energy Transition at Rolls Royce Solutions America Inc. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and strives to bring a holistic view of the dynamic energy landscape by striking a balance between technology\, business and economics. He has published over 8 peer-reviewed journal articles\, presented and served as a panelist at over 30 at various state and national conferences. \nLakshminarayanan championed the microgrid concept and installation at Rolls Royce’s facility in Aiken\, SC. He has been serving the energy industry for 19 years in various capacities – from academia\, business\, sales\, service and engineering.
