The Edward P. Fitts Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Engineering supports ISE students who demonstrate strong academic achievement. Edward P. Fitts established the scholarship on June 23, 1999, to help talented students pursue their educational goals.

A decade later, the Fitts Fellowship Program was established to support outstanding ISE graduate students. As a result, the Fitts legacy continues to benefit both undergraduate and graduate students through scholarships and fellowships.

“Deb and I are so pleased and honored to have supported such an outstanding group of scholars. They are all excellent ambassadors for NC State.”

The Impact for Fitts Scholars and Fellows

The Fitts Scholarships and Fellowships have made a lasting impact on the NC State Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Through generous support from Ed and Deb Fitts, these awards help attract and retain talented undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential.

Fitts scholars and fellows benefit from financial support that allows them to focus on academics, research and professional development. As a result, students can pursue opportunities that strengthen their educational experience and prepare them for successful careers.

In addition, the program helps build a strong sense of community within the department. Events and networking opportunities connect Fitts scholars and fellows with faculty, peers and donors who share a commitment to excellence. These experiences create valuable relationships that often extend beyond graduation.

Furthermore, Fitts scholars and fellows contribute to the department’s reputation for academic achievement, innovation and research excellence. Their success reflects the lasting value of scholarship and fellowship support while helping ISE continue to attract outstanding students from across North Carolina and beyond.
