Sabbatical in my office!
Most faculty opt to leave their home institution for the duration of their sabbatical but some opt to keep their home institution as their base. I chose the second option for a variety of reasons and there are both pros and cons to that. The purpose of a sabbatical is to gain new inspiration and potentially start new research collaborations. This seminar will highlight some of the activities during my sabbatical but also touch on some of the mistakes that I made during this time.
Dr. Ola L. A. Harrysson joined the ISE Department at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2002 after receiving his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. He has been conducting research in Rapid Prototyping and Additive Manufacturing for over 20 years. His main areas of research are medical application of additive manufacturing technologies, custom design and fabrication of orthopedic implants, medical device development, and materials development for the Electron Beam Melting technology.
