Sponsorship of an ISE Senior Design Project involves providing a problem description, identifying an appropriate scope of work, mentoring a team during the semester including providing feedback on their performance as well as financial support to the department.

Your team will generally consist of 3-5 students who are committed to 10-12 hours per week dedicated to your project over the course of the academic semester. The team is responsible for providing progress reports that detail their work on the project from inception to conclusion.

Each sponsor is expected to provide a tax-deductible donation to the ISE Senior Design Program account which is managed by the NC State College of Engineering Foundation. These funds cover costs incurred by the team for supplies, materials, use of NC State equipment and travel. Costs for local projects (Wake, Durham and Orange Counties) are $3,000. Projects outside of the area are $3,500. Some Non-Profit organizations and State Government entities are eligible for complementary project support. No goods, services, or deliverables (including intellectual property) have been offered, nor are they expected, in return for this contribution.

Contributions should be made online or coordinated with Kanton Reynolds.

Why Senior Design is a Golden Opportunity for your Company

Sponsoring a senior design project is a smart and strategic investment for your company. First, you gain access to fresh and innovative solutions that can improve processes, reduce costs and increase efficiency. In addition, students bring new perspectives and are not limited by traditional thinking. As a result, their work often leads to creative and practical outcomes.

Moreover, sponsorship allows you to evaluate and recruit potential future employees. As you work closely with student teams, you observe their technical skills, teamwork and professionalism over time. Therefore, you gain deeper insight than a typical interview process provides. You can begin this process easily by completing the sponsorship form and outlining your project needs.

Your current employees also benefit from mentoring student teams. By guiding projects and providing feedback, they strengthen leadership, communication and project management skills. In turn, this experience supports growth within your organization. You also gain access to university resources, including faculty expertise, advanced tools and student talent.

Finally, sponsoring a project allows you to shape the next generation of engineers. At the same time, you solve real business challenges and build meaningful connections with future talent. To get started, complete the sponsorship form and take the first step toward impactful collaboration.
