Biography

Russell King serves as the Henry Armfield Foscue Distinguished Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at NC State University. He also holds titles as both Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor and Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers.

Over his career, King has consulted for major organizations. His clients include Ford Motors, The Gap, Dillard’s Department Stores, and the Institute for Defense and Business. Through these partnerships, he has applied his expertise to solve complex business and engineering challenges.

King has earned many awards for teaching, advising, and research. Among these honors are the Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award and the IISE Technical Innovation in Industrial Engineering Award. Each recognition highlights his dedication to excellence and innovation.

Previously, King served as the director of the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics (CAMAL). Before joining NC State, he worked as a Systems Analyst for Dynamac Corporation in Rockville, Maryland. He also served as an Industrial Engineer at the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast at Jacksonville Naval Air Station.
