Bio
Natalia Summerville leads the Applied Data Science team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. There, she guides AI and data science projects that support hospital strategy and patient care. Previously, Summerville led Operations Research at SAS Research and Development. In 2022, she received the SAS CEO Award for Excellence because of her innovative analytics work.
Summerville also supports the Data4Good movement through volunteer projects and leadership roles. For example, she uses data science to improve Human Milk Banks and healthcare systems. In addition, she joined the board of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America in 2024. Since 2015, Summerville has volunteered on more than 10 national social impact projects.
Beyond her professional work, Summerville volunteers with INFORMS and supports several national programs. She helps lead conference activities and supports the Franz Edelman Award committee. Furthermore, she encourages students through the “Doing Good with Good OR” competition. Since 2005, Summerville has taught operations research, analytics and machine learning at several universities, including NC State, MIT and Duke.
