Bio

Madi Arabi is a Ph.D. student in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial Engineering at NC State with a minor in statistics. She also earned a master’s degree in Operations Research from NC State. During her graduate studies, Arabi served as president of the ISE Graduate Student Association.

At NC State, Arabi has served as a research assistant since 2021. She also received the Edward P. Fitts Fellowship, which provided full tuition and a research stipend.

Arabi has gained extensive industry research experience with Google, Apple and SAS. At Apple, she developed optimization and AI tools for supply chain operations and root cause analysis. Additionally, her work at SAS focused on machine learning, large language models and bias mitigation.

Before coming to NC State, Arabi studied at Sharif University of Technology. She was also recognized as a prominent student by its Industrial Engineering Department.

Arabi’s research combines optimization, machine learning and artificial intelligence for condition monitoring and asset management. Her work includes federated learning approaches that protect user privacy while maintaining predictive accuracy.

More recently, her research has focused on anomaly detection using video and image data. She develops multimodal AI architectures that combine different forms of information to identify unusual patterns. Her broader technical interests include computer vision and image processing.
