Bio

Faisal Mahmud is a Ph. D. student in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems engineering at NC State. His academic interests include industrial engineering, data analysis and applying analytical methods to real-world problems.

Before joining NC State, Mahmud built extensive teaching experience in Bangladesh. He serves as a lecturer at Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology. Previously, he taught at several universities, including Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

Mahmud earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. He studied industrial and production engineering as an undergraduate before earning his master’s degree in industrial engineering. At NC State, he continues developing his research and teaching experience while pursuing his Ph.D. His research has also contributed to work accepted for presentation at the 2026 IISE Annual Conference.
