Edric Pham is a Ph.D. student in industrial engineering at NC State. His research experience extends beyond NC State. In 2026, Pham joined Argonne National Laboratory as a research intern. Previously, he spent nearly a year at the National Laboratory of the Rockies. There, he developed tools for studying extreme weather impacts on renewable energy and critical infrastructure. He also helped develop an AI-based, real-time energy forecasting system for power system operations.
Pham’s research has earned recognition within the energy community. In 2026, he received the Best Poster Award in Solar Energy Meteorology at the IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference. His project used a data-driven method to model extreme weather and analyze its impact on solar energy production.
Before graduate school, Pham worked in business and data analytics in Vietnam. He earned his master’s degree in industrial engineering from NC State in 2025. He expects to complete his Ph.D. in industrial engineering in 2027.

Pham's research focuses on energy systems, weather uncertainty and data-driven methods for improving power grid reliability. He develops synthetic weather data to support long-term energy planning and model extreme weather events. Additionally, he uses neural networks to predict electricity demand and renewable energy production. His work helps researchers better understand risks facing power systems under changing weather conditions.
