Bio

Ishti Sikder is a Ph.D. student in NC State’s ISE Department. He also serves as a graduate teaching assistant in ISE. Previously, he worked as a data science consultant with NC State’s Data Science Academy. His experience includes optimization, data science, machine learning and statistical analysis across several industries. His past projects addressed challenges in healthcare, transportation, logistics and financial technology.

Before joining NC State, Sikder earned a master’s degree in engineering and industrial management from UNC Charlotte. While there, he developed optimization models to improve patient appointment scheduling and transportation systems. His work included projects involving Mayo Clinic and Cargill.

At NC State, Sikder has presented research on production and inventory decisions at the INFORMS Annual Meeting. He also served as a session chair for advanced inventory and supply chain management.
