Bio

Karen Welton serves as the ISE Program Specialist/Executive Assistant of the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. In this role, she serves as the “right-hand” of the ISE department head, where her responsibilities center around various tasks related to faculty, alumni, donors and students.

Prior to joining the ISE Department in 2018, she served as the Business Services Coordinator for the NC State Engineering Foundation, where she processed all gifts to the College of Engineering, handled financial transactions, managed scholarship awards and assisted with donor stewardship.

Karen and her husband, Steve, owned Welton Structural Design, a structural engineering firm in Virginia, for 14 years. In 2014, they had the opportunity to return to Raleigh so that Steve could teach at his alma mater. Like her husband, Karen is a NC State graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting.
