Sophia Cauwels

ISE Ambassador

Sophia Cauwels is a student in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department, pursuing a minor in graphic communications. She grew up in a small town near Chapel Hill, although she was originally born in Iowa. Because of its comprehensive engineering approach, she chose ISE to align with her career goal of specializing in human factors and ergonomics. Ultimately, Cauwels aims to make the world more accessible for people of all abilities.

In addition to serving as an ambassador, Cauwels works with the Center of Additive Manufacturing and Logistics. Moreover, she remains actively involved in several organizations, including the honors college and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. She also participates in InspirENGR, the Society of Women Engineers and the Club Figure Skating team. Through these commitments, Cauwels continues to strengthen both her technical skills and her leadership abilities.

Cauwels welcomes questions from prospective and current students. Furthermore, she encourages anyone interested in ISE, CAMAL, student clubs or NC State University to reach out.
