Subramanian (Subbu) Pazhani joined NC State’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering as an adjunct faculty member in January 2023. He is a Senior Operations Research Specialist with the Analytics Center of Excellence, R&D, SAS Institute, Cary, North Carolina. His main responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing optimization-based solutions for a variety of industries including Health Care, Transportation, Manufacturing, and Education. Subbu currently teaches Data Analytics for Industrial Engineers, and Design and Analysis of Production and Service Systems at NC State.
Prior to SAS, Pazhani also has 6+ years of semiconductor manufacturing experience where he developed analytical and optimization models for improving wafer manufacturing operations. His projects were focused on improving cycle times, productivity, and variability reduction using optimization and dispatching techniques.
Pazhani currently serves as an Associate Editor in the International Journal of Green Computing, and the International Journal of Enterprise Network Management and reviewer in international journals including Annals of Operations Research, Benchmarking: An International Journal, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Computers and Industrial Engineering.
Research Interests
Pazhani’s research areas include network design in closed loop supply chains, inventory optimization in supply chains, inventory routing problems, dispatching and cycle time optimization in Semiconductor fabs. His work has been published in prestigious journals such as International Journal of Production Economics, Computers & Industrial engineering, International Journal of Production Research, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Applied Soft Computing, and International Journal of Operational Research. He has also published a focus book titled Design and Analysis of Closed Loop Supply Chain Networks.
