Bio

Yuhan Hu is a Ph.D. student in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at NC State. She earned her master’s degree in industrial engineering from NC State in 2024.

At NC State, Hu has served as a research assistant, instructor and teaching assistant. She has supported courses in data analytics, statistical modeling, network flows and engineering economics. Additionally, she has taught linear algebra and linear programming to incoming Ph.D. students.

Beyond academics, Hu has held leadership roles with the INFORMS NCSU Student Chapter. She served as secretary before becoming president during the 2024–25 academic year. During her presidency, the chapter earned the INFORMS Cum Laude Award.

Hu's research spans two areas: (1) prognostics and reliability prediction, using statistical learning, privacy-preserving federated learning, and stochastic modeling; and (2) multimodal AI, focusing on LLM/VLM reasoning, evaluation, and calibration.
