Ashton Sumpter

ISE Ambassador

Hi, I’m Ashton Sumpter. I’m from Lumberton, North Carolina, majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering at NC State. My passion for ISE stems from my personal experiences with natural disasters during my childhood, which inspired me to pursue a career focused on optimizing systems for disaster response and healthcare.

ISE allows me to blend engineering principles with real-world problem-solving to create more efficient, resilient systems. I’m particularly interested in using data analysis and process improvement to enhance healthcare systems’ response to emergencies and natural disasters.

Aside from serving as an ISE Ambassador, I serve on the board of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IISE) club, a member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), involved in the Goodnight Scholarship program, and I worked in the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics (CAMAL) lab as an undergraduate researcher. If you have any questions about these experiences, don’t hesitate to reach out!
