Alexander Comas Santiago

ISE Ambassador

Alex Comas Santiago is majoring in industrial engineering at NC State. He is from Fayetteville, North Carolina, although originally born in Orlando, Florida. He is passionate about guiding others while always considering different perspectives. Furthermore, he participates in the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. This past summer, he worked with ABB, optimizing a production line for a new low-voltage switchgear product. In addition, he presented technical solutions directly to ABB leadership.

Why ISE?

Comas chose Industrial and Systems Engineering because he values continuous improvement. He loves reducing waste to save time and energy while increasing efficiency. That mindset aligns perfectly with this degree. Moreover, the passion and support from faculty and connecting with like-minded peers confirmed his decision. Comas also values teamwork and communication, which ISE allows him to practice daily.

Why be an Ambassador?

He became an ISE Ambassador to serve as a role model and reliable resource. Just as mentors supported him when he arrived at NC State, Comas now strives to provide the same guidance. Ultimately, he hopes to help students define and achieve their own versions of success.
