“Amazing”… that is the word that comes to mind when I reflect on the excellent work being done by the ISE department’s faculty, students and staff. The department is on the leading edge in several major fields of endeavor including joint projects with The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, and research in the rapidly developing field of Additive Manufacturing. These activities, along with the department’s efforts to develop a closer linkage with the College of Management will provide an even broader ISE education and ensure that our graduates are well prepared for the challenges of the 21st century.
I am honored to serve as the current Chair of the department’s Advisory Board. Meeting three times a year, the Advisory Board’s mission is to provide support to the department’s strategic objectives. Among our activities, the (8) Board members offer insight into developing trends in our respective professions that help the department in their decisions regarding future curriculum choices, research opportunities and departmental development initiatives.
As a result of our collaborative efforts, we are attracting some of the top graduate and undergraduate students worldwide, and our peer institutions are recognizing our ISE program as a thought leader in the discipline. Our national ranking will trend even higher as our peers become more aware of the outstanding work being done in the department.
I am pleased to be a member of our ISE team and look forward to the department achieving even greater success in the future.
