The ISE Department held its annual Alum Hall of Fame Breakfast on November 1st as part of Red and White Week and inducted five new members. Three members (George R. Auten Jr., Hsing P. Luh and Timothy Trainor) of the class of 2024 were awarded the Distinguished Alum Award, and the other two members (Lisa Cook and Natalia Summerville) received the Outstanding Young Alum Award.
Biography
Tim Trainor served as president and CEO of Mount St. Mary’s University from 2016 to 2024. He grew enrollment, improved finances, and expanded the campus. Upon retiring, he received an honorary doctorate, was named president emeritus, and had the Graduate School of Health Professions named after him.
Before that, Trainor spent 33 years in the U.S. Army, finishing as dean and Chief Academic Officer at West Point. He led major curriculum changes and taught engineering management. Trainor holds degrees from West Point, Duke, and NC State (ISE Ph.D.) He and his wife, Donna, raised three children, all dedicated to making a positive impact.
