Alumni Scholarships and Fellowships

The scholarships and fellowships listed below are generally awarded annually, but availability and amount may vary from year to year depending on availability of funds. To apply for all COE and MAE scholarships, simply fill out the online COE Scholarship Application.
Undergraduate Scholarships
The Robert F. and Romaine S. Angel Endowed Scholarship was created by Stephen F. and Lori Angel to benefit engineering students who demonstrate academic merit. Angel received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from NC State in 1977.
The Worley “H” and Callie Anne Clark Scholarship Endowment in Sales Engineering was established in 1997. The Clarks created this scholarship to benefit engineering students who demonstrate academic merit. Clark is an ISE alumnus who received his BSIE degree in 1956.
The Robert G. Carson, Jr. Scholarship was established in honor of Robert G. and Elizabeth W. Carson. This scholarship was created to benefit engineering students who demonstrate academic merit. Carson served as the ISE Department Head from 1955 to 1957.
The Hugh M. Duncan Endowed Scholarship was established on December 10, 1997. Duncan created this scholarship to benefit ISE students who demonstrate academic merit. He is an ISE alumnus who received his BSIE degree in 1955.
The Edward P. Fitts Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Engineering was established on June 23, 1999. Fitts created this scholarship to benefit ISE students based on academic merit. He is an ISE alumnus who received his BSIE degree in 1961.
The Kenneth D. and Wanda B. Franklin ISE Merit Scholarship Endowment was established in 2006 to benefit an ISE student in their junior/senior year who is the recipient of the Alpha Pi Mu/Kenneth D. Franklin Outstanding Sophomore Award, demonstrates merit and financial need and is a resident of North Carolina.
The Alpha Pi Mu/Kenneth D. Franklin Outstanding Sophomore Award was created in 2006 by Kenneth D. and Wanda B. Franklin to recognize the No. 1 ranked sophomore in ISE with the scholarship and award. Mr. Franklin graduated from NC State in 1971 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He received the first Alpha Pi Mu Outstanding Sophomore Award.
The Allen F. and Beverly J. Gant Endowed Scholarship was established on June 18, 1996. Mr. and Mrs. Gant created this scholarship to benefit ISE students who demonstrate academic merit. Gant is an alumnus of NC State, holding a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Class of 1955.
Red McCuen Scholarship
Arthur J. Meier Scholarship
Thomas D. and Tressa L. Pearson created this scholarship to benefit students in the College of Engineering who demonstrate academic merit, with preference given to students in the Fitts Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering. Thomas is an alumnus of NC State, holding a degree in Industrial Engineering, Furniture and Manufacturing Management, Class of 1965.

Graduate Fellowships
The Fitts Graduate Fellowships were established in 1999. Fitts created these fellowships to benefit ISE graduate students based on academic merit. He is an ISE alumnus who received his BSIE degree in 1961.
