Over 50 years ago, in December 1971, Dr. Thom Hodgson was photographed teaching a production/inventory control class for Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) at the University of Florida (UF). Today, he is Professor Emeritus with North Carolina State University. Dr. Hodgson had a long and successful career that spanned over decades working in both industry and academia. Dr. Hodgson taught with ISE at UF from 1970-1983. In this news report from 1979, Dr. Hodgson explains the importance and relevance of Industrial and Systems Engineering, which still holds true over 88 years after the department’s inception.
